TANGERANG (The Jakarta Post) : Despite their poorly maintained conditions, Tanjung Kait Beach and Cangkir Beach, both in Tangerang regency, Banten, were packed with tourists on Monday -- the third day after Idul Fitri.
Antara reported that the great number of private vehicles heading towards the two tourist destinations had caused traffic congestion from Kronjo subdistrict to the shoreline.
Most of the tourists had driven from outside the province to visit the beaches, which failed to attract local tourists due to the messy surroundings and bad road access.
Many of the tourists said they had chosen the beaches to enjoy fresh seafood and swim in the Java Sea, while others intended to go to the bird haven islets in the Thousand Islands regency.
