The American hip-hop group N.E.R.D. decided to cancel its weekend show in Indonesia after authorities in neighboring Malaysia briefly detained members of the band, the event's organizer said Monday.
The trio had been scheduled to perform Sunday in Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation.
Nirmala, a spokeswoman for the Jakarta event, said they decided to go straight home after experiencing problems following the Sunburst KL International Music Festival in Malaysia, hours earlier.
They were briefly detained for failing to get a permit from the Arts, Culture and Heritage Ministry - which has strict requirements about clothing and behavior on stage - something that turned out to be the promoter's fault.
Nirmala, who like many Indonesians uses only one name, said the incident made the artists nervous about continuing their tour.
