London (ANTARA News) - Indonesian ambassador to Great Britain Yuri Octavian Thamrin wished Christmas peace to members of the Indonesian community celebrating Christmas in London on Sunday night.
"Held at Queens Park Community School in London, the Christmas party was attended by hundreds of Indonesians in Britain," Indonesian Embassy spokesman Billy Wibisono told ANTARA here on Monday morning.
Wibisono said the Indonesian ambassador to Great Britain in his address expressed hope that the Christmas values of peace, joy, and brotherly love could be practiced in daily life.
He quoted Yuri Thamrin as saying that Indonesia is a pluralist nation and therefor the Christmas season this time was expected to bring peace, joy, and harmony among all people of the country.
Meanwhile, the economic counselor at the Indonesian Embassy here, Tumpal Hutagalung, said the birth of Jesus as the Prince of Peace was the desire of Indonesian Christians in Britain for a lasting peace on earth.
Hutagalung expressed hope that religious harmony and tolerance in Indonesia would be an example for other countries to follow.
The Christmas party in London was organized by Indonesian Christians from various denominations in Britain.
