The operator of Ragunan Zoo in South Jakarta is eying between 3.5 million and 4 million visitors this year to remain one of the most popular tourist destinations in Jakarta.

“Last year, we recorded about 25 percent increase in the number of visitors and now we are out to see another surge this year," the zoo's head of public service unit Marsawitri Gumay told reporters Saturday.

Established in 1973, the zoo currently has 274 species, including a pair of raccoon, which just arrived from Canada.
