Denpasar. Australians are continuing to flock to Bali in increasing numbers. More than 33,000 Australian tourists visited Bali this February, a massive 63.73 percent jump on the same period last year, the Central Statistics Agency said on Friday.
The total figure of 33,190 made Australia the top source of visitors among dozens of countries whose citizens holidayed on the resort island that month, said Ida Komang Wisnu, head of the Bali branch of the agency, also known as the BPS.
Australian tourists accounted for 17.29 percent of the total tourist arrivals in Bali in February this year, he said.
A total of 191,926 foreign tourists visited Bali in February, a 29.94 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
In January this year, the number of Australian tourists visiting Bali climbed 58.86 percent to 44,412 from 27,966 in the same period last year.
Last year, 446,570 Australian tourists visited Bali, up 42.62 percent from a year earlier.
