Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA Newes) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono asked Balinese community leaders to help realize the idea of organizing a periodical World Cultural Forum.
The president made the request in his address when opening the 32nd Bali Arts Festival (PKB) at the open-air ArtCenter here on Saturday evening.
When he made the appeal the head of state referred to the holding of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. "At a time, Bali could also organize a world cultural forum which could be attended by experts and various other parties," the president said.
It could also be attended by the lovers of arts and culture, science and technology, history, world heritage, tourism operators and non-governmental organizations (NGO).
The president said that Bali had been known to the international community for a long time as the most beautiful island in the world because it was bestowed with natural beauty and traditions.
"The belief in the harmonious relations between mankind and nature has caused Bali to be called the island of paradise," he said.
Bali has also served as the center of enjoyable arts and culture which are appreciated and even loved by the world as well, the head of state said.
"Bali has served as an icon for Indonesia`s tourism and become one of a main foreign tourist destination," he added.
