Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa confirmed Thursday that US President Barack Obama will visit Indonesia in November.
“Probably after attending the G20 meeting in South Korea [Obama will visit] around Nov. 11,” Marty told tempointeraktif.com Thursday.
Obama announced in late September that he will be traveling to Indonesia "soon", making good on a promise he has made and reneged twice this year.
The announcement was made during the United Nations General Assembly, taking the Indonesian delegation by surprise, not so much by the content as by the timing, and that Obama had decided to make the announcement himself rather than his staff at the White House.
The trip to Indonesia will be part of an Asian tour he had planned on making in November that originally had included only India, Korea and Japan.
