Bali welcomes world leaders

US President Barack Obama, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon and Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao are among world leaders who will be arriving in Bali on Thursday to attend in the ASEAN Summit.

Several ASEAN leaders have already arrived, including Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, who was not expected to be present due to the floods in Thailand but arrived at 2:30 a.m.

Ngurah Rai Air Force Base Commander Lieutenant Colonel Jumarto said that Ban Ki Moon, South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh were scheduled to arrive at noon, while Obama is scheduled to arrive on Thursday evening following a two-day visit to Australia.

US State Secretary Hillary Clinton is also scheduled to arrive in Bali on Thursday.

State airport operator PT Angkasa Pura I general manager Purwanto urged airlines operating at the Bali Ngurah Rai airport to adjust their schedules to avoid expected delays with the arrivals of numerous VVIPs, Antara news agency reported.
