Festival to close part of Kemang

JAKARTA (Jakarta Post): The Jakarta Transportation Agency will close a section of Jl. Kemang Raya in South Jakarta on Saturday for this year's Palang Pintu festival.

Agency head Nurachman said officials would close the street between Jl. Kemang Selatan 12 and Jl. Kemang Selatan 8.

"The area will be closed from 10 p.m. until midnight," he said Wednesday.

He said motorists could take alternative routes, such as Jl. Puri Mutiara and Jl. Pangeran Antasari, if they wanted to travel to the area.

"They also could pass through Jl. Kemang Selatan 1 then continue to Jl. Kemang Timur if they wanted to reach Jl. Kemang Timur," said Nurachman.

He said he was hopeful motorists would obey the rules.

The Palang Pintu festival is a Betawi-inspired festival complete with a bazaar and various cultural performances. The festival was held for the first time last year.
