JAKARTA (Jakarta Post): The government has decided to revise the slogan for Visit Indonesia Year 2008, following advice from experts, to ensure the message says "celebrating 100 years of national awakening".
Director general for marketing at the culture and tourism ministry Thamrin Bhiwana Bachri said the change was made after careful consideration.
"Our colleagues tried their best not to be reckless increating the slogan, I'm sure," he said.
"So the minister accommodated their input," Thamrin said.
The tag line, which previously said "celebrating 100 years of nation's awakening", was criticized as "grammatically incorrect" and "incomprehensible" by John Aglionby in his article Catchyslogan, published on Dec. 18 in The Financial Times.
