JAKARTA (Jakarta Post): Despite controversy surrounding last year's best film awards, which saw young filmmakers, casts and crews returning their Citra awards, this year's best actress, Dinna Olivia, said she was honored to receive her prize and was impartial to the boycott at the 2007 FFI Awards ceremony on Friday in Pekanbaru, in Riau.
"I am grateful for the award. That is the why I came to the ceremony," said the 24-year-old winner of the Indonesian Film Festival (FFI) 2007 Best Actress Award, for her role as a prostitute in Mengejar Mas-Mas (Chasing Guys).
Dinna won over several young and promising actresses, including Mengejar Mas-Mas co-star Poppy Sovia, Love is Cinta actress and singer Acha Septriasa, Marsha Timothy of Merah itu Cinta (Red is Love) and Kamulah Satu-Satunya (You are the Only One) actress Nirina Zubir.
Thirty previous young winners of FFI including film directors Riri Riza and Hanung Bramantyo, film producer Mira Lesmana and actresses Dian Sastrowardoyo and Rachel Maryam, returned their Citra trophies in January to Culture and Tourism Minister Jero Wacik in a protest over the handling of last year's awards.
