Denpasar (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia Nurrachman Oerip has a commitment to establish a cultural center in the country to introduce Indonesia`s arts and culture, Rectors of Denpasar`s Indonesian Institute of Arts (ISI) Prof I Wayan Rai said here on Thursday.
Wayan Rai, who had visited Cambodia recently, said the Indonesian envoy expressed his hope that ISI would play its active role in the establishment of the cultural center in the Asian country.
To support the activity at the planned cultural center in Cambodia, Wayan Rai added that ISI would send students and lecturers to the country to introduce Indonesian arts and culture to Cambodian community.
However, he said that ISI`s participation in the establishment of the cultural center should be discussed further, although there has been an agreement between ISI and the Indonesian Embassy in Cambodia.
Wayan Rai explained that ISI in Denpasar was not only asked to introduce arts and culture in Cambodia but also in several other countries.
Earlier, the Indonesian Embassy in Peru had also invited ISI to perform a series of arts and cultural activities in the country because the people in that country had a profound interest in traditional dances and arts from Indonesia.
