Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono bestowed the Bintang Jasa Utama medal to Stanley Ann Dunham, mother of US President Barack Obama, posthumously, for her services in her research work on the role of women.

"To remember and appreciate her for her dedication and love for Indonesia, the Indonesian government decided to bestow her the Bintang Jasa Utama, President Yudhoyono said in a banquet entertaining President Obama at the State Palace Tuesday night.
President Yudhoyono said Ann Dunham, an American, conducted research at the Gajah Mada University in Yogyakarta on the role of women and socio-economic empowerment.
"She conducted the research with full dedication and sacrifice," he said.
According to President Yudhoyono, the research work was on the role of women and micro credits in the villages.
On the occasion, Obama expressed thanks and accepted the Indonesian government`s award.
President Barack Obama with his wife, Michele, are in Jakarta on a state visit and some other official agendas.
