In a bid to spur the use of the Javanese language among youngsters, the Blora administration will issue a regulation to oblige all residents to speak the language once a week.
Blora Regent Yudhi Sancoyo said Sunday the rule would come into effect in January, next year.
“We will use the language for daily communication every Thursday,” he said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
He added that he would not impose sanctions on those who did not speak the language.
“This will be like a public campaign, so the local language will continue to exist and not be forgotten by the young generation,” he said. (ewd)
