Putu Cintya Purnama Sari, a receptionist at the Novotel Bali Benoa, Indonesia has been voted “Indonesia Hotel Receptionist of the Year 2009”.
The aim of the competition was to raise the profile of the hotel receptionist as a valid and rewarding career, ignite a healthy and competitive passion for customer service and motivate front line staff to excel in their current roles.
The Hotel Front Liners Association Bali, together with Bali Hotels Association, ran a regional competition to find a winner in Bali who would compete in the national finals in Jakarta. Putu Cintya Purnama Sari, as the national winner, will now represent Indonesia at the AICR International Receptionist of the Year competition being held in Madrid, Spain in February 2010.
During the final selection of the National Best Hotel Receptionist in 2009, six finalists from more than 250 eligible hotels in Indonesia were tested by four judges from hospitality, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and two who were hotel guests. The candidates took a written test of receptionist in-depth knowledge and on Indonesian tourism including an interview.
The test was followed by a skills demonstration (role-play) where the candidates had to think and identify the guest’s needs and provide the highest standard of customer care and professionalism.
