Batam (ANTARA News) - Malaysia`s state of Malaka has contributed some 100,000 ringgit (300 million rupiah) to Batam-based Quran Centre in a bid to help develope this institution, an official said.
"Malaka state was very impressed on the Quran Centre learning program which turns out young male and female Quran readers and disseminates Quranic knowledge to the people," Hamadi Rahman, Quran Centre director said here Sunday.
Malaka administration submitted the donation when Riau Islands governor Ismeth Abdullah and Hamadi visited the neighboring state of Malaka on Thursday (Nov 15).
The donation will be used to step up the Al Quran learning program, Hamadi said, adding that this institution has been preparing an Al Quran library to keep the collection of the Moslems` holy book in the world.
